Some photos from a recent brief fly fishing road trip. The weather turned sunny and hot and the river went quiet. The Pale Morning Dun hatch fizzled-out. Caddis insects were sparse. Trico mayflies started making an appearance…odd for mid-June as it’s usually a mid-summer onward hatch. Anglers reported the weather and water conditions seemed more like late July. Rising trout were hard to find. In addition to the main river I explored some creeks, walked a lot, took some photos, found a few fish, and enjoyed the summer like conditions…

Glad to hear you were able to get away on another road trip. Sounds like you had to hunt a bit to find some rising trout. That’s how it goes sometimes. Healthy-looking fish in the pics. Hope you have good fishing at home over the next few weeks. I’m back in MB, but plan to fish around the Pass when we get back in mid-August. -Vic
Vic: Safe travels to and around MB. Not a bad time of year to for it. I guess you’ll get up to Snow Lake. By now i’m sure Zoe is a great car traveller.
Yes, now that our rivers are all open will fish locally for rest of summer and into BC the middle of August onward. I got a couple of days on the classified Skookumchuck in Sept. A few friends will visit this summer so should be out on the rivers a fair amount.
Hope all is welk with you and family…

Nice photos Bob. Would love to see the inside of your camper rig.
Hope all is well. Cheers!

Hi Rick: Thanks for comment on the photos. The West is very photogenic.
My camper is a pop-up style and a shell. Is basically empty except for a slide out queen bed on top. At 300lbs it is perfect for my Tacoma, a lightweight truck, and can go anywhere with it. On the inside i basically have storage crates to stuff things in and hooks/caribiners (sp) up high to hang things from. People set up the inside to match their needs/activities as it is basically a blank slate.
Hope all is well.

Looking forward to hearing about the Skook. I had a day license for it in 2017 but there were fires burning around Canal Flats and I decided against the long drive from where we were staying.
Will be your way in early August this year.
Greg: Like you… I had a few days on Skook booked last yr but an appointment i had been waiting for got scheduled last minute, same time. It (apt) took priority so couldn’t go to Skook. Hopefully this yr.
Yes fires or fire threats often an issue…more so than ever.
Low snow pack this yr in my region and south. More snow on bc side of border. More snow also north of me. Good thing is that this Spring we have had a fair amount of rain….hopefully precipitation will continue into July.
Don’ t know my schedule early August but feel free to connect as will be around.
