” Life is trying things to see if they work”…Ray Bradbury
Winter tying. It’s how you stay in the game mid- winter when it’s -25C outside. You can’t travel anywhere far. So you dream of warmer weather and open rivers, and you tie flies for the next opportunity. You tie for when the door opens and you get to walk through. Here are some summertime options for when the sun is warm again. Some big and small, leggy things…
Those’yll work!
Les: I know the little beetles/ ants work. Will have to see how my damsel flies perform late july, august. Hope all is well. We need snowpack up here!

Nice flies Bob! I’m going to have to start tying pretty quick. Spring will be here before before you know it.
Vic
Hey Vic: It has been awhile. Hope all is well. Spring is just around the corner, I hope! Yes, start tying…I’ll check your blog and see what you have been up to….checked a few weeks ago but not since then.

I’d cast any of those for sure. Dry damsels can bring some slashing takes. Are the beetle and ant legs hair or synthetic?
Jim: Synthetic….real small/narrow ones. I think Spirit River or some other brand sells them as “centipede/millipede legs”…super skinny and flexible. Bought the product a long time ago for ant patterns….
bob
MFC centipede legs….
Thanks Bob. I have some of those!
